What we expect from you
Cadence
- Hold at least two meetings per month during term time.
- Once your club is approved by Hinksey Labs, we recommend referring to the “Suggested First Steps” tab for a strong start.
Governance
- Leadership : Decide whether you will lead the club as a sole President or with a committee, and share the structure with us so we can stay informed and update your club website accordingly.
- If you form a committee, you are free to determine how members are elected and how roles are assigned.
- We recommend appointing at least 1-2 Co-Presidents or Vice Presidents, so you can delegate responsibilities and ensure smoother club management.
- Succession : To ensure continuity, establish a leadership succession plan.
- You may remain as Club President for an additional year if you wish, but a succession plan must always be in place to secure the club’s future and your lasting impact.
Website
As soon as your Club is approved by Hinksey Labs, kindly let us know what content should be included on your club website (click to view an example). The content will include the following:
- Club Name - This can be based on your school, your area, or another theme you prefer, using the format “The ____ Hinksey Club.”
- Description - Your website will include a general club description, and you can also add an additional text section specific to your club if you’d like.
- Committee - Share the names, titles, and photos of your committee members.
- Additional Sections - Let us know if there’s anything else you’d like to feature on your website, for example, club news.
Showcase
- Send us photos - and short video clips where possible - from your kick-off and other events. We may occasionally be able to spotlight your club across our media channels to help you gain more visibility.
- You’re welcome to open your own Hinksey Club social media channels, just let us know if you choose to do so.
- You’re welcome to use the Hinksey Labs logos for any branding needs.
Registration
- Ensure all club members register through your club’s website so they can complete the required consent forms and help you maintain a clear membership database.
- Please note that Hinksey Club Perks will only be provided to members who officially register their membership.
- Once you provide us with your club website content, we will set up your club registration form and explain how to easily access and manage your membership database.
Ideas for activities
You’re free to shape your Hinksey Club in the way that best fits your members; nonetheless, we recommend referring to the “Suggested Club Plan” for optimal structure. Here are a few additional general ideas to help you get started - and we’ll gladly advise on further initiatives!
- Social events - informal get-togethers.
- Case discussions on business, entrepreneurship, and social impact.
- Competitions - work with your club to take part in official Hinksey Labs competitions, or organise your own internal hackathons or competitions.
- Engagement with local businesses or non-profits.
- Site visits - you organise; we can advise on logistics.
- Expert sessions - you source the expert; we can support your outreach.
- Mini-Project - this can be published on your club’s website. Examples include:
- Writing a short article about what you learnt from engaging with a local organisation.
- Running a marketing campaign for a local organisation.
- Organising a fundraising event for a local organisation.
